• What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture, an ancient branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), promotes natural healing through your body’s own regulation, whether there is an unbalance or any impeded flow of a subtle energy (Qi), by stimulating certain points along the course of meridian. As a result, organs and bodily systems can work together in harmony, which sets the stage for the body to repair itself and maintain its own health.

• What is Qi?

A vital energy that flows throughout the body through specific pathways called meridians. Qi animates the body and protects it from illness, pain and disease. A person’s health is influenced by the quality, quantity and balance of Qi. Physical and emotional trauma, stress, lack of exercise, overexertion, seasonal changes, poor diet, accidents, or excessive activity are among the many things that can influence the quality, quantity and balance of Qi.

• What does an acupuncturist do?

The acupuncturist uses TCM diagnostic skills to evaluate the quality, quantity and balance of Qi flowing in the body. Once the imbalances of Qi are detected, the practitioner can then create a well-structured treatment plan which including treatment modality, frequency and length of treatment.

• What is the acupuncture needle look like? Do they hurt?

Look the picture above, you got an idea! If you can stand a mosquito bite then you can stand the acupuncture needle!

• Are needles clean and do they transmit diseases?

In the state of Florida, all acupuncture needles have to be sterile and disposable only! That is the law!

• How long do treatments take? How many treatments does one need? How often?

The number and frequency of treatments vary depending on the patient’s health problems and response to treatment. Typically, the recommendation is 1-3 treatments per week for 4-12 treatments.

• Is acupuncture covered by health insurance plans?

Please check the insurance page.
